City of Darwin is proud to provide LAUNCH Night Series to our community.
LAUNCH Night Series is a social inclusion sports program for young people aged 12-17 held on a Saturday night. Our next month long tournament will run Saturday nights 5 – 26 November at Darwin Indoor Beach Volleyball Centre, 29 Benison Rd, Winnellie.
About the Program
LAUNCH Night Series is a free City of Darwin program open to young people aged 12 -17 who reside in the Darwin area. Previous programs focussed on basketball, but now we’ve added new sports to the mix. In addition to competitive games, each Saturday night players are provided with uniforms, participate in a cooking workshop to prepare meals to eat with their teammates and transportation home within Darwin municipality if required.
Tournaments
LAUNCH Night Series takes place on four consecutive Saturday nights and in the past has been held at Casuarina Senior College, Darwin Basketball Stadium at Marrara, The SHAK, Darwin Indoor Beach Volleyball and Top End Indoor Sports Centre. The program is led by a committee of community volunteers and is supported and managed by City of Darwin. LAUNCH Night Series aims to-
- Provide young people with a safe, healthy and positive environment on Saturday nights when they may be vulnerable to harmful and anti-social behaviour;
- Support young people to connect with and participate in positive activities in their local community;
- Provide healthy role models and build positive self-regard in young people; and
- Divert young people in areas of need from the risks associated with unhealthy behaviours.
LAUNCH Night Series welcomes support from young people, volunteers and businesses.
