LAUNCH Night Series – Info for Crew Members

IMPORTANT

  • All LAUNCH Night Series crew must have a current Ochre Card, which will need to be sighted by a member of the City of Darwin Youth Team **
  • We appreciate crew to be flexible and open to last minute changes due to illness and unavailability of other volunteers
  • Crew are expected to be involved in general clean up and tidy after the games
  • All crew are welcome to join in the evening meal where they have the opportunity to liaise with other crew and players
  • Crew are asked to be at the venue by 6.30pm on game nights to sign on which is followed by a mandatory briefing at 6.40pm

COACHES AND ASSISTANT COACHES

Please do not panic if you aren’t pro volleyball level – your role really involves managing team dynamics, encouragement of play, participation and teamwork. You will be your team’s main point of contact and go to person for the duration of the evenings. On top of your time on the courts, you will also prepare and have dinner and attend the workshops with your team – get involved and have fun!

KITCHEN AND DINNER SUPERVISOR

Yum! You get to prep healthy snacks and fruit for players, and support coaches and players to prepare their quick and delicious meals to keep them energised through the night. There will be 4 teams coming through the kitchen each night – a great chance to meet all the players and coaches.

GENERAL ASSISTANTS

Just as it sounds – general assistance in running of the tournament nights across a number of different areas. Catering, set up, pack down, scoring, maybe even fill in for an assistant coach for the night. Be prepared to be flexible in this dynamic role!

REFEREE &S SCOREBOARD OPERATOR

Role requirements: You will be responsible for the refereeing of each 15 minute game per evening. This will require the ability to implement fundamental rules, while also mentoring and explaining the rules to players. This role is for both experienced and developing referees. We can brief you on the rules if you’re uncertain 🙂
