Accessibility at Geektacular

Geektacular is an annual by-fans, for-fans event created by young people with support from City of Darwin’s libraries and youth programs teams.

Accessibility Information

  • Geektacular is recommended for young people 15-25 years of age. Participation in activities at Geektacular is open to ages 12+.
  • Geektacular is held throughout Casuarina Library, which is directly opposite the Casuarina bus station.
  • There is a carpark that has 2 allocated and signed wheelchair accessible car spaces approximately 50 metres from the building entrance.
  • There are 3 x 15 minute drop-off zones directly in front of the building entrance
  • The building is wheelchair accessible with a ramp up to the entrance of the venue and room to move once inside.
  • There is an accessible bathroom available on your right as you enter – just off the library lobby.
  • There will be a range of food and drinks available.
  • This is a free event, all of the food and activities at the event don’t cost a thing – the only thing that you will need money for is if you want to purchase items from the market stalls.
  • Geektacular is a popular event with lots of people, colour, movement and noise.
  • If you need a break from the vibrancy of Geektacular seek out the Lo-fi Lounge where you will find headphones playing fantasy soundtracks, nature sounds or lo-fi beats. There will also be fidgets and quiet activities.
  • If you have questions or need assistance head to ‘Save Point’ which is on the right (beside the iced tea station) just after you enter the library.
  • ‘Save Point’ has a range of Hidden Disabilities sunflower items if you would like to wear a lanyard or wristband
  • There will be multiple City of Darwin staff working at the event who are trained in first aid.
  • Support workers are welcome.
