Come skate for International Women’s Day!
OPTION 1
The 1.5 hour (free) workshop hopes to improve your park ability & is not for people who have never skated before. You must be able to move in a straight line on your chosen discipline; un-assisted. You will learn to navigate your way around the park, tackle uneven surfaces and figure out if it’s ‘my turn to go?’ All in a safe and supportive environment thanks to facilitator Shiner Town.

Not keen for the workshop but still eager to skate? Then it’s just a regular Saturday shred session! If you’re not among the workshop developing your skills there’ll be social skating occurring throughout the park. With music playing this is the perfect chance to catch up and meet other female skaters who share the same passion. No registration required!
A light dinner will be provided thanks to Saffron and vegan options will be available. Plus every attendee receives a raffle in the draw!

Who can attend the workshop?
This event is for females aged 14 – 25 who ride quads, skateboard, scooter or bmx.
Are there ID or minimum age requirements to enter the event?
The Leanyer Recreation Park is a public space that is free for use however it is recommended that attendees of the International Women’s Day Skate event are aged 13+ or have parental supervision. Workshop attendees must be aged 14 – 25, the general skate session is open.
I’m a male but I’m interested in being a part of the afternoon. Is that ok?
It certainly is. You will not be able to attend the workshop but you are still welcome to join in on the social skate.
What are my transport/parking options for getting to and from the event?
There are plenty of parking spaces available. If you are catching the bus, Number 9 is the most frequent service.What can I bring into the event?
Your water bottle. Comfy clothes (most probably pants) and enclosed shoes. A camera to get some rad flicks of your new tricks. Any safety equipment that you own. Last but not least, your skate gear!
This City of Darwin event is drug & alcohol free.
What happens if I don’t own my own skate gear or safety equipment?
Some safety equipment (helmets and pads) and five skateboards are available on the day to borrow. These MUST be booked through the workshop registration. Please contact us if you have any concerns. All skaters under 16 are required to wear a helmet.
Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?
No you do not. We will have a list printed (:Is it ok if the name on my ticket or registration doesn’t match the person who attends?
Yes, that’s totally ok, as long as the person attending can fulfill all of the age and capacity requirements.
What is International Women’s Day?
International Women’s Day (March 8) is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women. The day also marks a call to action for accelerating gender parity.
