Jingili Skatepark Mural Mentorship

Are you a young artist wanting to explore mural painting?

We are offering mural painting mentorships to three young artists who will be supported by established artists to paint their first murals at Jingili Skatepark.

You don’t need to have mural painting experience to apply. Digital illustrators and traditional drawers are also encouraged to apply.

This project is presented in conjunction with the Darwin Street Art Festival 2023.

This opportunity is for young people15-25 years of age

What you will get out of this opportunity:
  • Practical advice, guidance from a skilled muralist/street artist
  • Education about wall prep, materials and techniques
  • Ability to transfer your creative ideas to a wall space
  • Opportunity to paint a section of the Jingili Skatepark with your work
  • A small fee to cover your participation expenses eg your transport, use of your own equipment for research, design and planning
  • All materials will be provided
  • Opportunity for the public to see your artwork and celebrate your creative skill
Things to consider:
  • The painting will occur across the weekends of 26+27 August and 2+3 September
  • You don’t need to be available for the whole of both weekends but you will need to have a reasonable amount of availability (approx 2 days spread across the weekends)
  • You will learn about using spray cans, brush paint and paint pens. It will be up to you which technique/s you end up using on the wall
