LAUNCHed.online

LAUNCHed.online is a digital adaption mentoring program supporting young people to develop and produce digital programming and engagement activities. Some examples of the kinds of projects that could work:

  • singer/songwriter who would like to livecast performances from your bedroom
  • keen fisher and would like to make a series of short videos about fishing on a budget
  • juggler who would like to share online tutorial videos
  • visual artist who would like to share hints and tips as you progress on a painting
  • photography expert who would like to create a short online course
  • AFL player who would like to keep younger players fit and motivated while at home

Don’t be limited by these examples, they are just to give you an idea of the scale of projects we are able to support.

Who can apply?

Young people aged 12-25, who live, study or work within the Darwin municipality are invited to apply for one of 10 positions in the program. 50% of these positions are reserved for current LAUNCHmedia participants.

Under 18s will need permission of their parent/guardian to participate in this program. Their project plan will also need to be signed off by their parent/guardian.

How does it work?

  1.  Selected applicants will be connected with our program mentor Amy Hetherington of Amiable Communications
  2. Amy will work with you to flesh out your idea some more
  3. Together with Amy you will create a plan for getting your project up and running
  4. Amy will support you to test run your idea
  5. You are then let loose to enact your plan
  6. With Amy’s help, you will then reflect on how it went and come up with some ideas for your next steps
  7. World domination (kidding, but maybe, who knows?!)

What do you get?

  • Up to 10 hours mentoring / support / encouragement from our mentor Amy of Amiable Communications
  • Access to LAUNCHDarwin’s social media channels if you’d prefer to post your content there instead of onto your own accounts
  • Help to promote your project via LAUNCHDarwin, Amiable Communications, Off The Leash and Lockdown Arts NT

What does it cost?

Nothing! You will however need access to reasonably reliable internet and a device that is capable of video conferencing eg. Skype, Zoom, Messenger video chat.

What do we want in return?

All we ask that you acknowledge the support of @city_of_darwin @launchdarwin #dotrythisathomedarwin in any digital programming you produce through this mentoring program

When will it all happen?

We’re keen to get cracking right away!
Applications close at midnight on Sunday 26 April
Applicants will hear back from us either way by the end of April
Ideally we would like to see participants producing online content by the end of May.

Applications are now closed.
