FAQ
Is this a job?
LAUNCHmedia is a youth leadership and skills development program where you get mentoring and support to develop your skills and talents in the social media space. We do reimburse participants for expenses such as their transport and phone/data use. Once you have been through the mandatory orientation workshops and have covered a few events for Youth Week we may have some paid opportunities for you to continue covering events for us.
How many people do you accept?
We usually support around 6-8 team members each year.
Can I participate if I don’t have social media accounts?
All team members will need to already have some knowledge of social media platforms and will need to at least have Instagram and Facebook accounts.
Are there any eligibility requirements?
- To be aged 12-25
- Living, working or studying in Darwin, NT
- Have an interest in media and promoting community
- An active Ochre Card – we can help you get one
- You’re able to get yourself to and from places independently
- Own a smart phone with data allowance (wifi won’t always be available at events)
- Beginners experience across a range of social media platforms especially Instagram and Facebook
Who are the mentors?
The LAUNCH Media program will introduce you to a whole heap of social media influencers, content creators and marketing managers from around Darwin! Some of these include:
Hannah Illingworth who has been working around community events now for 10 years and has a passion for clear communication and creative story telling.
Amy Hetherington is passionate about creating content and sharing stories in a fun, enjoyable and amiable style!
