Is this a job?

LAUNCHmedia is a youth leadership and skills development program where you get mentoring and support to develop your skills and talents in the social media space. We do reimburse participants for participation expenses including transport and phone/data use. Once you have been through the mandatory orientation workshops and have covered a few events for Youth Week we may have some paid opportunities for you to continue covering events for us. We focus on covering free or low-cost events.

How many people do you accept?

We usually support around 6-8 team members each year.

Can I participate if I don’t have social media accounts?

All team members will need to already have some knowledge of social media platforms and will need to at least have Instagram and Facebook accounts.

Are there any eligibility requirements?

  • Aged 12-25
  • Living, working or studying in Darwin, NT
  • Have an interest in media and promoting community
  • An active Ochre Card – we can help you get one if you don’t have one yet
  • You need to be able to get yourself to and from places independently
  • Own a smartphone with data allowance (wifi won’t always be available at events)
  • At least a little experience across a range of social media platforms especially Instagram and Facebook

What will I get out of participating?

  • Meet other young people who are interested in developing their media skills
  • Access to local events and opportunities that you get to then tell people about (sometimes includes free tickets)
  • Getting a better understanding of what’s happening in Darwin
