Leadership isn’t something you’re necessarily born with, but a skill that can be learnt through experience, service, learning and civic engagement. Youth leadership is about empowering young people to take on the responsibility of making a positive impact on their community through collaboration, civic engagement and the ability to inspire and mobilise others.

Youth leadership has played a part in some of the most influential political movements in history and as new or existing challenges facing our communities grow in complexity so too does young people’s drive to make a difference and spark change.

Programs
Youth Advisory Committee
The Youth Advisory Committee is a dedicated group of young people aged 12-25 who advise and work with the City of Darwin Council to make Darwin a more youth friendly city. YAC meets monthly to discuss local issues, provide advice to Council and fundraise for community causes.
NT Youth Roundtable
Each year, young people aged between 15 to 25 years are selected to take part in the Northern Territory (NT) Youth Round Table (Round Table). They represent the geographic, cultural and diversity of the NT.
Multicultural Youth NT (MYNT)
Multicultural Youth NT (MYNT) is a youth-led group for multicultural, migrant, and refugee young people in the NT. MYNT seeks to unify young people of all backgrounds and empower them with skills and opportunities to turn their ideas into reality and facilitate projects in the wider community. It gives young people a platform to share their thoughts, influence decisions, and help shape a more inclusive Territory.
UN Youth Australia
UN Youth’s State and Territory Conferences are overnight events bringing together a group of students from across a region to explore a complex and interesting topic in the fields of international affairs and law, and global politics.
NT Youth Parliament
The Northern Territory Youth Parliament is an annual youth- led civics engagement program led by the Y Northern Territory in partnership with the Northern Territory Department of the Legislative Assembly.
